How Small Changes Can Produce Large Effects Sooner Than You Might Think
This is the tale of a college professor, a financial consultant, and a Ph.D. research scientist who saw something few, other than themselves, seemed to have noticed, i.e., how small changes can produce large effects. They have applied this observation in distinct ways producing a new field of science, significant returns on invested capital, and a revolutionary approach to behavior modification, respectively.
While the applications are different, the powerful, underlying core principle is the same.
Syntheney is a matter of experiencing an Aha! that makes all the difference. It is the perception of a natural harmony first seen when you aren’t looking. How that happens is the subject of this post. It is also the reason our Welcome-page features the image of a rainbow.
A copy of that image also appears here for your reference.
Put yourself in the place of the photographer who took this picture. From a distance he sees the waterfall cascading over the precipice from the river above. He sees sunlight shining from behind him and through the water droplets in the falls ahead. The spectacular natural harmony of the rainbow emerges where his viewpoint intersects the blending of water droplets and sunlight. We know this because the image portrays what he sees.
Whether your arrival here today was on purpose or a matter of serendipity, we hope you like what you see and return frequently.
About Our Name
Syntheney (sin–theh-nee) is the perception of a natural harmony first seen when you aren’t looking.
- It is the connection that has always been there but heretofore unseen.
- It is the expression so unfamiliar it challenges us to reach beyond our grasp to find the distant connection that renders it meaningful.
- It is the surprise that transforms possibility into opportunity.
- It is the discovery so succinct, so fundamental, and so obvious in an instant after its articulation it elicits a lively “Of course…!”
